Then stand up a new one with correct name / ip address. The much simpler method is to move roles off one at a time decommission / demote remove from network (or rename / re-ip at this point) then do clean up if necessary. I would not rename the existing domain controllers. adm settings from my old servers to the new ones? (it’s been a while since I configured these and I don’t remember everything I did)? On each server, primary DNS points to the other and secondary points to itself. Currently they are at a Server 2003 functional level. The servers run DNS and DHCP (with DHCP Failover). I want to keep the name of the physical box and rename the VM. My goal is to replace these DCs using the same IPs. It’s time to replace the hardware so I am getting two new physical servers.
